Holistic Skin

Many people look at their skin as just a canvas to decorate with make-up and clothing without realizing it is so much more. Our skin is a primary detoxification organ as well as a reflection of our physical, mental and emotional harmony. It functions as a covering for the entire body as the first line of defense to prevent microorganisms and other substances, such as heavy metals and germs, from entering. When our skin reflects signs of beauty, such as clarity, softness, and firmness it lets us know that our internal organs are working efficiently. If our skin reflects blemishes, sallowness, or fatigue it lets us know our inner organs, emotions or energy is not in harmony and may need attention.

When we are going through emotional or mental stress or tension our skin will reflect this by displaying a dull, fatigued or blemished appearance. There is no separation betwen our thoughts, emotions and our physical body. They are all made up of energy, and when there is a deficient flow of energy running through the body our skin will tell us. When we have a free and even distribution of energy harmoniously flowing throughout the body we can recharge our fatigue, it is our fountain of youth, and it enhances our health. Best of all it is availabe to all of us. In Jin Shin Jyutsu it is recommended that if we hold our thumb it can aid in digestion. This can help us to assimilate and eliminate toxins from our body, physically, mentally or emotionally. If we hold our ring finger, we harmonize energy flowing through the lungs and large intestines. This means we can improve our intake of oxygen to the blood stream and elimination of carbon dioxide, which can improve our skin's appearance, especiall skin with projects such as acne. Regular sessions of energy work can be as vital to our overall health as regular check up's, facials, dental visits, or eye exams.
